How to measure your steering wheel

The Sho Room

Leather steering wheel cover measurement guide

Before purchasing your new leather steering wheel cover you will need to know what size your car steering wheel is.

The more accurate your measurements are the better the final look and also makes it easier for you to thread it on.

There are two main types of steering wheels.

Steering wheels with consistent grip thickness all the way and ones with uneven thickness.

For ones with uneven thickness, it requires a lot more complex measurement requirement and I usually do not make one. It is possible to make one but usually the perfect fit isn't guaranteed. Please enquire if interested.

There are two measurements required for the leather steering wheel cover.

Diameter x Grip Circumference

Diameter is straight across the centre of the circle.

Usually between 36-43cm

Grip circumference is the measurement around the grip.

Usually between 6-13cm

Use SOFT tape measure

Using soft tape measure for grip circumference will help getting the most accurate measurement. Please do not use a hard metal tape measure.

(If you do not have a soft tape measure, you can use a thin string and measure the string with a ruler.)

I prefer to receive the true measurements taken by the buyers rather than the manufactures specification.

I have had issues in the past with the errors between the manufactures spec and the true measurements.

It has always been more accurate this way.
